Welcome to the Glens of Antrim.........
The Glens of Antrim are made up of nine individual glens : Glentaisie and Glenshesk which flank either side of Knocklayde at Ballycastle, Glendun, Glenann, Glencorp and Glenballyemon which connect and run between the vilages of Cushendun and Cushendall, Glenariffe the Queen of the Glens with Waterfoot at its outflow, Glencloy and Glenarm are the first or last two glens along the Causeway Coastal Route which touches on all nine glens.
Formed during the last ice age the landscape of the glens is unique and varied, containing peatlands, rocky tundra like land, fertile valleys, rivers, beaches and forests. The principle villages and towns are Glenarm, Carnlough, Waterfoot, Cushendall, Cushendun and Ballycastle. Accommodation can be found throughout and includes self catering, bed and breakfast, guest houses and mobile camping sites. If your travelling the Causeway Coastal Route then it will go through all the main villages and towns and has several loop roads allowing you to explore two glens on each drive plus you have the wonderful scenic Torr Road, though remember to pull your wing mirrors in as passing can be tight in places.
Away from the principle towns and villages you will not find any cafes or restaurants, so its advisable to pack a picnic and enjoy the scenery, their are activities to do in the glens like pony trekking or visit the activity farm at Watertop. Ardclinnis Activity Centre also provide a variety of outdoor pursuits. For more information about the area and accommodation, restaurants and things to do please follow the menu above.
